A few months ago, I wrote about why AI will never replace professionals. At the time, the world at large was still testing the capabilities of OpenAI’s GPT models.
I confess the article was a bit pre-mature.
Professionals like you and me at the time, primarily operated in the field of denial. Look, its giving us wrong answers! This can’t be intelligent for X, Y and Z reasons!
By and large, the world was yet to graduate to the feeling I was addressing in the piece - fear. The fear that precedes knowledge, acceptance and then, adaptation.
Over time, I have had several opportunities to explore this topic in these pages - how will it affect the fundamental ways in which we work? A toy in the hands of monkeys, or a powerful enabler of efficiency?

The fear is not unfounded.
As professionals, we are process and result oriented. We are liable for our mistakes, we are held up to standards of attention to detail. Without knowledge, we cannot accept nor can we adapt.
Which brings me to tomorrow.
I have the privilege of speaking with a group of distinguished chartered accountants, at an event organised by the prestigious 97-year old Chamber of Tax Consultants.
The event is free to attend online, registration details are here. All of you who read Future of the Law. Bonus: After the session, the hall will be open for questions and discussions, which I expect will be even more interesting!
Structure of the workshop
Part 1: Basics of ML, AI and NLP.
Part 2: What Language Models can do, can’t do, might do, will do, won’t do and shouldn’t do.
Part 3: How AI and Language Models can help with legal drafting and review problems.
Part 4: How to use AI to lead, innovate and grow in these transformative times for professional work.
